Survival as a Species / Upgrade

Ok, how have we survived as a species this long with breast feeding be this difficult? Charlie took to it the first time like I would have thought. Then apparently he decided to not continue this behaviour past the first feeding.

On a good note, the love seat version of the ched (bed / chair) was much more comfortable. Maybe I was just too tired to care?

Everyone is doing well,

Congratulations!! He looks great. I just hope you remind him constantly later on how much trouble you all went through for this. By the way, I loved the picture of John in the gown showing some leg.....

Hope the family is doing well. We look forward to seeing more pictures.

Don't get frustrated with breast feeding... it is difficult for both the new mom and baby since neither have done it before =)
It took 6 weeks before it became a "normal" process for me... keep at it as long as you can, it was one of the best experiences and bonding experiences I have ever had!! Feel free to call me when you get discouraged... day or night!! DD

Congratulations! He's beautiful. Can't wait to meet him. And I love the name--very distinguished. And I second what DD said--it takes a while...sometimes a loooong while for the breastfeeding to work "like nature intended". But it was worth the trouble.

I'm with Tara and DD on the nursing thing. It is tough to get started, but SO worth it. Once we got past the hard part, I loved every minute of it! Be sure to ask for help, in the hospital AND when you get home. Feel free to call anytime.

Congratulations Robenalt Family!

Hang in there on the Breast Feeding.

Use the Lanolin regularly, work with the nurses and setup time with Paula Jansen(585-0597)there at Christ. She's fabulous! See her or the other Lac Consultants multiple times over the next several days.

Heck even with #3(Julia) we worked with Paula and figured out Julia needs to be kept awake for eating - so her dressing for dinner was just wearing a diaper.

Natural? LOL. I agree with DD above, six weeks is your goal! Once you get to six weeks, you'll be much more comfortable and so will Charlie. I think for me, 3 weeks was the worst. Also, practice, practice, practice. Just have the nurses check to make sure he's latching on properly. That was the hardest thing for me to learn.

Do you have the Girlfriend's Guide? It's full of laughs and laughter will help the crazy stuff mellow out a little easier.

CONGRATULATIONS. Did I mention he's absolutely beautiful?

Dear Michelle and Jay:

Congratulations! Charles Durbin Robenalt is absolutely beautiful. He looks like he is wondering: "what is this all about anyway!!!"
Take care of yourself, Michelle, as you have had major surgery and it takes a while to feel well. A pointer....one day you think you are back to normal and the next day is awful and you thinnk you are going backwards. Don't get discouraged and just chalk it up to the post surgery process. Little by little and you will be back to your old self. However, both of you will realize very soon that your lives are completely changed with this new little person in your lives. I can imagine how happy you must be. Best wishes! Congratulations! and lots of love and prayers,
Great-great Aunt Sally
