Our trip to Florida was eventful from the start. After a packed flight down, we had a long wait for the rental car, and then for the car seat to be delivered to the car. Long story short, Charlie ended up taking a tumble out of the back seat of the rental car and hit his head on the pavement of the parking lot. So our first stop outside of the airport was to the emergency room to get him checked out. To make a long story even shorter, he was fine, but we were all very hungry by the time we got out of there.
Charlie had a great time playing with uncle Rory, who tried to show him how to shoot a nerf gun. They enjoyed watching Kung Fu Panda together as well. We visited with Great Grandpa Robenalt, and Mary and Margie had us out to the pool, which Charlie loved. On Sunday we took Charlie to the beach, which he loved. He didn't mind walking up to the water at first, but once he had a taste of putting sand in a bucket, that was all he wanted to do. He made a fuss when I tried to take him down to the water a second time.
Charlie practiced two big words while he was in Florida-- alligator (Mary and Margie had picked up a small alligator toy for him) and elevator (there was one at the hotel). He loved saying them both. Our hotel was great, except for one incident with the pool being closed. But we did get in a swim before we left.
Our flight home was delayed, but we made it home safely. What a great trip!
By the time we came back from Florida, the daffodils were blooming in the backyard. It reminded me of how they were blooming 2 years ago as we waited for little Charlie to arrive. My how time flies!
