The Dermatologist

The day of our appointment with the dermatologist at Children's finally arrived this week. I am so glad we finally saw her. Amongst the things she told us was that the last prescription for ointment we had been given should never be used on the face. She also did not have an immediate diagnosis. In some ways, I feel better that she didn't immediately know what the problem was, because that means it is likely something uncommon and there's a reason no one else could seem to help us. Even though she did not have instant answers, I felt extremely confident that she knew what she was talking about.

Our next course of action is to apply sunscreen to his cheeks and ears every time he goes outside at all, and come back in a month. She wants to see if the sun makes it worse or better. She's trying to avoid having to take a biopsy of his cheek.

She took lots of photos to share with colleagues as well. So hopefully we'll have some answers relatively soon!
