I finally resorted to exclaiming "Because I said so!" in response to one of Charlie's "Why?" questions today. Ugh.
I don't feel like I accomplished much this weekend in the way of preparing for November, but we did manage to take care of a few needed errands. On Saturday morning we took Lucy in for a bath at Petsmart and Charlie had fun looking at all the animals in the store. While he enjoys looking at the birds and hamsters, and he was excited to see some kitties, his favorite was watching the dogs who were in the play area of the boarding/daycamp facility. He opted for a second trip back to that section over going to see the fish during this visit.
After dropping Lucy off, we went to get Charlie a haircut, and then to buy some new shoes for fall. His left foot is slightly bigger, measuring a 6 1/2. We got him some new size 7 washable sneakers, and an adorable pair of little Merrills so he could be just like Daddy.
We also had some social time this weekend. Charlie went with us to the Kaeppners' baby party last night. He met a new "friend"-- the 2 year old daughter of Lauren's cousin-- and they enjoyed chasing each other around, sharing a snack of some crackers, and dancing to some music. He enjoyed helping unwrap all the gifts as well. Today we saw Grandma Robenalt for lunch and a trip around Target to buy a few new long sleeved shirts and long pants for Charlie for fall. He needs 3T pants, but only for the waist. We'll have to roll up the legs quite a bit.
The new interest that Charlie has been displaying this weekend has been to point out when things are "the same." He's been finding animals in books and showing us when "they match!"
Right now Charlie is having some quiet time, watching one of his current favorite movies (Coraline) while John is off at broomball. I'm enjoying the quiet!
